The courses for SISMID 2026 are now online: [The Summer Institute in Statistics and Modeling in Infectious Diseases (SISMID) | In-Person Program](https://sismid.sph.emory.edu/modules/index.html)

I really enjoyed teaching nowcasting and forecasting with @nickreich last year. This year, we have split the course into two linked courses: first delays, Rt, and nowcasting, and then short-term forecasting.

This means we are in direct competition to see who gets the most students (or as I said to Nick, we are working together)…

On that note, what kinds of things would people be interested in seeing added to the nowcasting course?

The material from last year is here: [Nowcasting and forecasting infectious disease dynamics - SISMID – NFIDD SISMID](https://nfidd.github.io/sismid/)

Since last time Kaitlyn Johnson has done some nice stuff on baseline nowcasting we could include: [https://wellcomeopenresearch.org/articles/10-614](https://wellcomeopenresearch.org/articles/10-614)

We could also get into hazards a bit:

> **[Model definition and implementation](https://package.epinowcast.org/articles/model.html)**
>
> Model formulation and implementation details

Or something on workflows for ID models:

> Here is a first draft
>
> \[Rt from Multiple Data Sources Paper (4).pdf\](https://git…hub.com/user-attachments/files/23096873/Rt.from.Multiple.Data.Sources.Paper.4.pdf)

TLDR: Please sign up for my course as I

1. have to compete with Nick and

2. Atlanta is really rather hot for me.

3. My teaching has been described as surprisingly okay.

Also I don’t think that this is the year to go all in on Julia for these courses but I could be convinced …

I haven’t done any of the courses that aren’t ours but the students always seem to be having a nice time. Generally has a nice vibe and the snacks are pretty good. The ferries in Stockholm are also fun.
